Rockstar Games has delayed the grand release of Grand Theft Auto 6: The Cartel for a planned November 2021 release. Why? According to a little-noticed blog entry on Rockstar’s website, “We believe it will be too close to Christmas to give the game away. We’ll announce more specifics later.”
So, is there still hope for fans of the hit series to obtain a copy of the new game in time for the eagerly anticipated release date? Well, we’ve got good news for you. As it turns out, there is still a possibility of getting a copy of the newest addition to the series, possibly right around the corner.
If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, here’s a refresher. Rockstar is one of the largest game publishers in the world, with a huge catalog of titles to its name. Rockstar Games, as a brand, has released more games in the past twenty years than any other publisher in the industry. If you include all their other franchise offerings such as Plants vs. Zombies and LCD vs. Game Cube, there is a great deal of money to be made by Rockstar. However, they have no current release dates scheduled for any of their future titles.
This led to a lot of speculations, most notably that Rockstar may be teasing a new game within the Grand Theft Auto series. Other rumor-fueled stories state that the company may be prepping the groundwork for a new game in that genre or possibly working on a smaller project designed to replace Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. There are several ways to read these latest Rockstar rumors. Here are some of the more popular ones:
The first rumor has to do with Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar has been rumored to be working on a new-gen version of this classic game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox Scorpios. The rumor is that the new-gen consoles will sport enhanced image quality and new features that will make the experience more advanced. It has also been suggested that the switch from PS3 to Xbox Scorpio could be accompanied by a switch from current-gen Wii hardware to the new consoles, meaning that the switch from PS4 to Xbox Scorpio will take place on the same day as the debut of the new-gen lineup. Speculation aside, it does mean that we could be getting an enhanced version of one of the most popular games in the series.
The second rumor revolves around a possible unnamed next-generation entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. This would, of course, be a sequel to the hugely successful GTAV game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This would put an interesting twist on the story since the last game featured a spin-off storyline that took place within the city of Miami rather than the open waters of the ocean. If this is to be the case, then we could be looking at a side-mission for the upcoming sequel to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Another rumor revolves around a new-gen game codenamed Rockstar’s next installment in the grand theft auto franchise. This rumor comes from a post on the popular Reddit news-sharing website, which is dedicated to the internet’s greatest hive-minds. A creditor who goes by the name of ‘ink hammer’ claims to have inside details on the forthcoming Rockstar game, which will feature two teams of thieves and one big target.
The earnings call is the buzz that’s building up around Rockstar this month. Two months ago, they had issued an earnings call to discuss the future of the company. During this call, they revealed that the next installment of Grand Theft Auto would feature more multiplayer, and this time it would be bigger than the previous release. They also discussed the possibility of taking Grand Theft Auto into the future with a new-gen format. Finally, they took the opportunity to discuss the possibility of another open-world game being released in the next five years. Stay tuned, as I will provide more details on this rumor.
