One of the most common and favourite meals of Filipinos is one of their famous how to prepare a salad. It is often served during lunchtime or dinner, usually with a sweet and savoury sauce on top. This classy yet straightforward dish is one of the Filipino’s most favourites. It is not uncommon to see a family gathering around a table and find everyone asking for how to prepare a salad.
Salads are very easy to make, especially if you have a fancy pressure cooker. It will give you the chance to be creative while preparing this favourite Filipino treat. You do not have to spend much time in the kitchen preparing a good one. All you need are your essential cooking equipment and some fresh ingredients.
When it comes to selecting the right dressing for your salad, you may have a lot of options. Depends on what kind of salad you are making. Do you want a milder dressing? Then, feel free to add more tomatoes and green onions. Or maybe you may want to go for a tangy kind of sauce so you can include a few pickles into it.
On the other hand, some want to go with a more intense dressing. May mean substituting mayonnaise, olive oil and vinegar. You may also want to add hot sauce if you prefer. Aside from that, lettuce and cucumber should always be present in your salad. These will provide crunchy texture on top and lovely colour on the stems.
While learning how to prepare a salad, you may also want to consider adding on your personal touch to it. For example, you can use fresh herbs such as cilantro, parsley, mint and dill. You may have to experiment a little bit tough if you are not accustomed to these particular flavours. You could try blending them or using them as an ingredient instead. In this case, you would need to experiment a bit more, though because these have very different flavours when compared to others. Just try to keep it in the mildest form possible, so you don’t overwhelm your taste buds.
As for the actual dressing, you might want to make it a little bit surprising by using a bit of mustard in there. This way, you will be adding on a little bit of colour without having to overdo it. Is certainly something new and exciting but do keep in mind that mustard has its drawbacks. If you have never tried this salad dressing before, make sure that you check out my recipe later on.
When it comes to dressings, you may want to play around a little bit more. For example, you may decide to go with a Caesar salad dressing. In here, all you would have to do is combine some tomatoes, red onions, chopped garlic, shredded parmesan cheese, some basil, and of course some sea salt. Then, add some balsamic vinegar, and you’re all set. However, if you want to be a little more adventurous, then you may decide to try to add some roasted chicken or even stuffing it with cheese. Just remember to season it well, so it doesn’t end up tasting like a roasted chicken salad.
Of course, this is one of the simplest of salads, but it will be unique because you can add on all those other stuffings and spices. It may look not very easy, but it doesn’t have to be. Just remember to be creative and try as much as you can!
